General information and key figures

The Lapland Hospital District is a joint municipal authority owned by 15 municipalities. It is responsible for providing specialist health care services for the population of the region as well as for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse problems in cooperation with primary health care and social services.

The resources are planned according to the health care needs of the population and the principles of good service so that the results are economically viable and of high quality.

In order to achieve these results we focus on maintaining the skills of the personnel, on monitoring the needs of the population, the care provided and the effectiveness of treatment provided as well as on disseminating information.

The Lapland Hospital District is part of the special responsibility area (ERVA) of the Oulu University Hospital.
